https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=643376 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=643376#c0 Summary: sporadic kernel bug while trying to hibernate system Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: suse@meiko-loesch.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=392696) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=392696) kernel messages typed from screenshot and copied from syslog User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de; rv:1.9.2.10) Gecko/20100914 SUSE/3.6.10-30.1 Firefox/3.6.10 when trying to hibernate my system, it works in about 3 out of 5 times but sometimes crashes with a kernel bug. The error messages are different from time to time, but the error in snapshot.c:523 (see attachment) seems to happen most often. The first two messages in the attachment are from a photograph, so there might be errors from typing. The other two are directly from syslog as they were the only occurrences logged. I played with disabling kms since the graphics adaptor seems to be involved and tried different kernels (vmlinuz-2.6.34.{4.0.1,7.0.2,7.0.2}-{desktop,vanilla,pae}). Sometimes it seemed to get better or even seemed to be fixed, but eventually the bug occurred again with every configuration. The same hardware worked fine with openSUSE 11.2 and testing of RAM and HDDs didn't give any hint of broken hardware. While avoiding hibernation the system works fine. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. hibernate system 2. wake up 3. do some work (if hibernation works once, the cycle wake-up/hibernate seems to work very often...) 4. goto 1. Actual Results: system freezes eventually with kernel bug. Expected Results: system should hibernate. output of /sbin/lspci: 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 82G33/G31/P35/P31 Express DRAM Controller (rev 10) 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82G33/G31 Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 10) 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family PCI Express Port 1 (rev 01) 00:1c.1 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family PCI Express Port 2 (rev 01) 00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family USB UHCI Controller #1 (rev 01) 00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 01) 00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family USB UHCI Controller #3 (rev 01) 00:1d.3 USB Controller: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family USB UHCI Controller #4 (rev 01) 00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family USB2 EHCI Controller (rev 01) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 PCI Bridge (rev e1) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82801GB/GR (ICH7 Family) LPC Interface Bridge (rev 01) 00:1f.1 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) IDE Controller (rev 01) 00:1f.2 IDE interface: Intel Corporation N10/ICH7 Family SATA IDE Controller (rev 01) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family SMBus Controller (rev 01) 01:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 Gigabit or Fast Ethernet (rev b0) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
