https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=333470 Summary: Samba, libsmbclient, QT and the move to GPLv3 Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE AssignedTo: cfarrell@novell.com ReportedBy: lmuelle@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: kde-maintainers@suse.de, samba-maintainers@SuSE.de Found By: Development With the upcoming Samba 3.2 release the Samba team will change the license from GPLv2 and newer (Samba 3.0.* and older) to GPLv3 and newer (Samba 3.2.0 and newer). This leads to a problem as soon as another depending software component is GPLv2 only. This is for example the case for QT. Therefore we might have to ship konqueror without support for the smb/ cifs protocol. At all 22 packages depend on libsmbclient. See https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-devel-list/2007-October/msg00126.html for a public discussion of this issue. The intention was to file a defect for openSUSE 11.0. But this OS isn't yet available in Bugzilla. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
