NetworkManager in 11.1 does not support reading yast configuration anymore at
all (because it never worked correctly and the two methods are just too
incompatible to work together). The static IP configuration can be configured
from NM's connection editor (accessible from control center and the applet's
right-click menu). In order to make NetworkManager totally ignore a device, add
the following lines to /etc/NetworkManager/nm-system-settings.conf:
[keyfile]
unmanaged-devices=$UDI
where $UDi is the HAL UDI of the device, which can be found from the output of
'lshal' command. That is not very user friendly, but at the same time, it's not
a very common thing to do.
