I too have seen that GRUB bug on one of my systems. It has been reported to
openSUSE and I think there is a fix in progress.
I'll see if I can generate another patch. At least you won't have to build from
clean to try it. Only the modified routines will need to be recompiled. Even
the kernel will not need to be reinstalled - only the modules.
I recommend leaving vt6655 blacklisted while you try new code. Doing a 'sudo
/sbin/modprobe -v vt6655' will accomplish the same thing as having it load at
boot time.
