On a Thinkpad T61 I for acpi_listen I get:
ibm/hotkey HKEY 00000080 00001010
video LCD0 00000086 00000000
ibm/hotkey HKEY 00000080 00005010
ibm/hotkey HKEY 00000080 00001011
video LCD0 00000087 00000000
ibm/hotkey HKEY 00000080 00005010
ibm/hotkey HKEY 00000080 00005010
ibm/hotkey HKEY 00000080 00001010
video LCD0 00000086 00000000
ibm/hotkey HKEY 00000080 00005010
ibm/hotkey HKEY 00000080 00005010
ibm/hotkey HKEY 00000080 00001011
video LCD0 00000087 00000000
ibm/hotkey HKEY 00000080 00005010
ibm/hotkey HKEY 00000080 00005010
It looks like brightness_enable=1 finally gives me the correct value but
without the ability to set it:
linux:~ # cat /sys/class/backlight/thinkpad_screen/brightness
13
linux:~ # echo "100" > /sys/class/backlight/thinkpad_screen/brightness
-bash: echo: write error: Invalid argument
linux:~ # echo 100 > /sys/class/backlight/thinkpad_screen/brightness
-bash: echo: write error: Invalid argument
I'll try the modified kernel today and see if everything works well, many
thanks.
