Allen,
On thursday and friday i dug through the intel "codedrop", and i have to
conclude the following there:
* This is a very late codedrop from Thomas Winnischhofer. While i have a very
high regard of him, he never used a CMS like cvs or git. So this is a lot of
different things piled in together there, and very hard to detangle. Merging it
with upstream is already a non-trivial task.
* There is code in there which adds actual support for sis67x. Apparently the
support that is in the current upstream driver was from before this hardware
was actually available. This means that a lot of work, both in porting, testing
and verification needs to be done to support this hardware.
All in all, adding this support to our current driver is currently not feasible
due to lack of hardware and lack of time. Maybe someone will do the work
upstream, but there is unbelievably little movement there on both the taiwanese
vendors drivers.
