However I can get a USB 2.0 bus if I connect the device via an external USB hub. I can also get a USB 2.0 bus if I manually unload and load the ehci_hcd module with the device plugged in (this is not an acceptable work-around since it interferes with other plugged-in devices). I can reproduce this in OpenSUSE 11.0 too, on my desktop machine. It also affects Ubuntu 8.10 and Fedora 10. However, answers from my posting in a forum indicate that this works in Ubuntu 8.04, so there is most likely a regression somewhere; one possible candidate is libusb. Although this is not an OpenSUSE-specific problem, I'm filing this report so that the problem can be brought forward upstream.
