Well, as stated in comment#9 and comment#11 we support only subset of shell
syntax in fillup. It certainly makes sense in some cases to support multi line
variables. In some other special cases it might be usable to support some other
shell features. I take a look and investigated this issue and as it is now, it
would be probably possible without big effort to support files with multi line
variables if there will be backslash at the end of each line which should
continue (it will be a little bit hackish, but it will probably work).
Supporting true multi line variables will be more difficult. But anyway, this
sounds like a new feature instead of bug, so I suggest to fill in fate request
so we can discuss it, vote for it and maybe discover some other features which
might be usefull and are not implemented yet. Maybe this can be done as part of
fate#306411. Other fillup feature is bnc#407869.
