I can confirm this on a Sony VAIO VGN-CS17G
I can also confirm that this is KDE-related, because
1) acpi -V reports:
When plugged in:
Battery 1: charged, 50%
Thermal 1: ok, 49.0 degrees C
AC Adapter 1: on-line
When unplugged:
Battery 1: discharging, 50%, 01:06:04 remaining
Thermal 1: ok, 48.0 degrees C
AC Adapter 1: off-line
(Note that I have enabled battery care so it won't charge beyond 50%, which is
normal behavior)
2) Booting from the GNOME live CD, the power management applets report the
state of the adapter correctly.
