Hi, I have had this problem since OpenSUSE 11.1 and KDE 4.0. I have a laptop
with a wifi connection and I have setup the connection to be handled with
NetworkManager.
Well, first, during installation, it doesn't work, meaning I cannot initialize
the network connection. Second, after installation, I tried to set up a new
connection and it only works manually. Even after setting up KWallet and
everything, the system does not initialize the wireless interface during boot
time. I have to start the network connection every time I log in. That is
really a big pain for me since some of my folders (/home, /projects and
/usr/local, etc) are network folders.
I don't know how to handle this. I've tried several solutions I've read in the
forums but the the problem persists. It's strange because it used to work very
fine with OpenSUSE 11.0 and KDE 3.5 (after I got tired of fighting with version
11.1, It switched back to version 11.0 and only came back with version 11.2).
On a related note, I don't see much sense in having KWallet store the password
for the wireless connection if the wireless interface is supposed to start at
boot time and KWallet starts after login!?
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Just installs and choose wireless network to be handled by NetworkManager
2. Setup a wireless network manually after installation and reboot
3.
Actual Results:
1. No network connection during installation
2. no network initialization during boot time
Expected Results:
1. As in previous versions, the network should have started during installation
2. the network initialization should occur during boot time
