Agreed. I have not been able to replicate the freeze since I re-installed and updated Leap 42.2, but it's more of a Plasma 5.8 issue than openSUSE per se. I did back up the image of the problematic install, prior to re-install, in case the KDE team needs anything in terms of logs or configuration. I strongly suspect, however, that it might be a memory management issue of some sort. My wild guess would be that Plasma 5.8 is allowing an application such as Firefox to write to display memory.
