Ok,
But first the solution to the make mrproper problem. This doesn't fix the
ATI issue and I suspect there may be others scratching their heads.
I don't know how the most recent kernel update failed to update the
kernel source and kernel obj links, but that is what happened. I have done
nothing but say OK to the latest kernel update.
Not needing to, but not knowing better, I simply reinstalled the
kernel-source that disclosed the link problem. (I know, I could have just
changed the links, but I didn't, at the time, know which ones were messed up):
[22:58 alchemy/usr/src/linux] # rpm -Uvh --force
/home/david/linux/kernel/rpms/2.6.25.18/kernel-source-2.6.25.18-0.2.x86_64.rpm
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
1:kernel-source ########################################### [100%]
Changing symlink /usr/src/linux from linux-2.6.25.16-0.1 to linux-2.6.25.18-0.2
Changing symlink /usr/src/linux-obj from linux-2.6.25.16-0.1-obj to
linux-2.6.25.18-0.2-obj
Ah hah! Now the kernel source is configured properly again -- doesn't
explain how it got unconfigured to begin with, but all is again well.
I'll report back on the ATI driver test...
