So, what you're saying is that the disk(s) spins down properly when the
spindown command is issued but spins up briefly and then go down again when the
system is actually trying to power off && the first spindown sounds just like
when you issue 'hdparm -y /dev/sdX' but the second spindown right before
powering off sounds bad, right?
If I understood you correctly, that's exactly what would happen if BIOS issues
spindown command on entering S4 but the drive tries to spin up to spin down
again. Thomas, can you please ask John to post relevant ACPI dumps and see
whether there's anything related in the code to enter S4? I hope this BIOS
rulez and we'll do everything from BIOS spirit isn't spreading but seems like
it is.
