Hi folks,
fine with me - but I think this should be discussed on the sane-mailinglist,
too, I am emotionless in this regard and I do not have an opinion but I agree
that the generic hal-key for scanners should not go into 70-scanners.fdi but
into a more generic location.
The only point is that I should know how it is solved finally because as of now
I integrated it into sane-backends - can easily be thrown out.
One information I thought I readily had had provided but apparently I didn't:
the file /etc/hal/fdi/information/20thirdparty/80-scanner.fdi must have been a
leftover from my struggles to get my scanner into operation, so it does not
belong to any package, I'd bet I created it myself some time during testing -
Alzheimer says "hello" ....
Now, any information pending from my side right now? Danny's patch fixes the
behaviour in a generic way, and each "processor" will get assigned the right
attributes as soon as I am done with the work on sane-desc.c.
By the way: hal-info? I know about hal and hal-doc, hal-info is nothing I've
seen so far.
Take care
Dieter
