Of course, I have setup the drivers for my video card (ati). Anyway, after selecting the option in KDE to activate the desktop effects, a mesage box appear. I think it was warning me about something but I could ne see it for a long time because immediatly after, the setting have been applied and the screen goes black, even after a reboot. Of course, I can revert this in a console (edit $KDEHOME/share/config/kwinrc and check for the section¨composiing and set Enable to False) but if there is a warning message, this message box should have a 'ok' and 'cancel' button so the user have a last chance to undo this setting. Maybe this message box already have those buttons but it this case, there are not working at all.
