https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=694746 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=694746#c0 Summary: [gnome3] Integration of menu bar in window title bar Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: uzsrjz@uni-bonn.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0.1 An integration of the menu bar in the window title bar would save space on the screen (looks also sleeker, IMHO). Some part of the window title bar may be reserved for the title and the mouse dragging operation. A mockup for this can be found here: "http://www.webupd8.org/2011/02/unity-mockup-menu-integrated-in-window.html" for the Ubuntu unity version of gnome (which has already a special handling of application menus, but with the lack of an intuitive direct connection between menus and the app window, like on OS X). In general using the title bar of an window for application widgets like Firefox in maximized state on MS Windows would be a great enhancement for computers with small screens (netbooks, tablets, smartphones...). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Use current GNOME3 version Actual Results: GUI wastes space in the window titlebar of most apps. Expected Results: GUI should use free space in the window titlebar for menu (or other widgets, e.g. document tabs in MDI GUIs) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
