Hi Mike,
Well. Sorry I should make a claim about checking your device's warranty before
running efibootmgr. Yes from time to time it bricks this new 21th century
firmware. People keep on doing great jobs in inventing new things but forget
about the basic.
From your description, I closed this one as it seems to caused by obsoleted
files being booted (and cleaning up the boot variables to point to new one is
also dangerous ..).
