Hi, when testing cockpit on ALP and same issue also happens on TW we found that in monitoring section start of pmlogger failing. After debugging we found that root of issue is missing dependency on pmcd service that cause that `rcpmlogger start` failed.
Basically we have this commit https://github.com/performancecopilot/pcp/commit/ e01ab96c813fa31e685ac864031d145f63162088 but missing follows up revert https://github.com/performancecopilot/pcp/commit/ 30ee6b4d6b00b745cb8e44ee6c9ea0a9377398c6
Without this service failed to start with "protocol" error so basically unless manually starting pmcd pmlogger is useless.
The same problem will be encountered for any other PCP client (e.g. pminfo, pmchart etc.) which attempts to connect. I'm happy to pick up the upstream Wants=pmcd.service change fomr pmlogger/pmie, but would also like to propose having the pmcd service get enabled automatically following package installation. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
