https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=820048 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=820048#c0 Summary: Fan always running at full speed - kernel patch 2491791 for openSUSE 12.3? Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: trenn@suse.com ReportedBy: migcr@hotmail.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de CC: jeffm@suse.com Found By: Community User Blocker: --- My laptop (Toshiba satellite R830) fan starts running at full speed when KDE starts. It happens always, and only when i suspend and restart the fan works ok. I've seen this problem in this forum: http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/laptop/482223-hig... As is explained there, the problem belongs to the kernel itself and wasn't solved in the time that was written the forum. But now there is a patch to solve this problem: https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/2491791 that was committed to 3.8 and 3.9 branches only, as 3.7 is EOL. It's possible this patch could be commited in the future for the 3.7 kernel of openSUSE 12.3? Finally, i think these two bugs are related: - Bug 801341 - i915 power saving disabled after resume - Bug 809789 - ACPI problems (CPU Fan, AC events) on Toshiba Tecra R840-14X after 12.3 update from 12.2 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
