--- Comment #11 from Brandon Kirsch 2010-04-13 20:05:27 UTC ---
I shut down my PC for the first time this weekend since installing Jeff's
patch. Upon reboot, I was confused about which kernel to boot with grub and I
picked the "wrong" (unpatched) kernel. X crashed and I lost all of my work.
After rebooting, I wrongly picked the unpatched kernel again and then checked
this page to see what version I needed to be running. This is when I realized
I had booted the wrong kernel for a second time. I expected another crash and
was not let down just a couple hours later when switching between windows.
I ran for nearly two weeks straight with Jeff's patched kernel without a hiccup
and crashed twice today when running the unpatched 2.6.31.12-0.2.1
(kernel-default).
Since Rok is unable to provide further testing of Jeff's patch, I am going to
go ahead and mark this as "Provides Info" - Your work has completely solved my
problems with X crashing, while running my original kernel causes trouble
within a couple hours of use.
Thanks again for your efforts, I look forward to this patch being implemented
into OpenSUSE so I can resume applying regular kernel updates.
