Yes, the cat error message is there... I've not removed it yet.
But the /sys/class/net/*/device/prod_id* aren't there any more. See also comment #1 -- the lines in ifup causing this:
if [ "$BUSNAME" = pcmcia ] ; then DEVNAME=`cat /sys/class/net/$INTERFACE/device/prod_id*` fi
exists since years, but the sysfs entry seems to be away now.
BTW: The above wireless nic works fine (except in bridge;), doesn't it? Can you provide the output of: ls -l /sys/class/net/*/device/driver I'll set it "supported" then.
