https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=349121 Summary: Kernal Update and instlux Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Update Problems AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: ed-dori-robinov@att.net QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Customer Instlux was successful in getting me into my Linux installation. I have a bios that doesn't allow booting from the USB hard drive. Only instlux got me into the partition to boot. I clicked on the triangle on the lower right when it demonstrated that I had mandatory updates. Upon completion of the updates I was told that I had to reboot due to a kernel upgrade. I rebooted and the screen showed a suggestion that I should upgrade my kernel. Since instlux had inserted a kernel off of my installation CD into my C drive in the directory opensuse I am thinking that the two kernels might be conflicting since no modification was made to the opensuse directory on update. Some sort of program should be formulated that reads the necessary kernel information and inserts it into the files on the C drive. This could be done with a bootable CDrom disk iso. It would have to mount the USB drives before it starts asking where the boot is. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
