Well, at home I took a look into my openSUSE 11.1, there the wlan interface is
called "ath" rather than "eth" and the permission is adjusted to "0600" rather
than "0644".
However, I do not think that it makes sense to make the permissions of such
device files name dependent. Thus, I would strongly suggest to adjust the
permissions in general to 0400, still not optimum - but noone but root or some
process with similar permissions ought to acces those files IMHO.

By the way: I manually adjusted all ifcfg-* - files to exhibit 0400 permissions
- no problems so far, thus this is the best solution in any case.
