so, in the IPv6-disabled case, to NOT suffer Firefox-menu-dropdown-delays, in

apparently, EITHER (or BOTH) of the following need to be true,
(i)
grep -i ipv6 /boot/grub/menu.lst
kernel /vmlinuz ... ipv6.disable=1
(ii)
cat /etc/pulse/client.conf
...
default-server = /dev/null
autospawn = no
...
i.e., the instructions for disabling IPv6 provided in,
/etc/modprobe.d/50-ipv6.conf
