No, this mechanism unfortunately does not work anymore.
You need to recompile the kernel and this is cumbersome.
With 11.4 the "load a customized ACPI function" would still work, but if you
hit this at boot time already this might also not work out.
Off topic:
There will be the day I'll revisit this and try to get ACPI table loading via
boot loader file/initrd passing working again. All I've done until now is
poking the grub and Linux kernel maintainers without much response because
there seem to be no consensus about the API/mechanism how to pass things
(keyword multiboot which grub supports, but the Linux kernel does not...).
I will leave for 3 weeks of holidays on Mo and still have some higher prio
bugs.
Rafael: Hope you are fine if I re-assign you some of my acpi/pci related
bugs...
