I was using the same monitor before on a older computer running SuSE-11.2. On the new system the USB hub in the monitor does not work. When connecting it to any of the plenty USB ports I get this in /var/log/messages ct 2 22:10:59 ada kernel: [39375.196128] usb 4-2: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 3 Oct 2 22:11:00 ada kernel: [39375.323123] usb 4-2: device descriptor read/64, error -62 Oct 2 22:11:00 ada kernel: [39375.551100] usb 4-2: device descriptor read/64, error -62 Oct 2 22:11:00 ada kernel: [39375.775122] usb 4-2: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 4 Oct 2 22:11:00 ada kernel: [39375.902116] usb 4-2: device descriptor read/64, error -62 Oct 2 22:11:00 ada kernel: [39376.130101] usb 4-2: device descriptor read/64, error -62 Oct 2 22:11:01 ada kernel: [39376.353118] usb 4-2: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 5 Oct 2 22:11:01 ada kernel: [39376.757113] usb 4-2: device not accepting address 5, error -62 Oct 2 22:11:01 ada kernel: [39376.880105] usb 4-2: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 6 Oct 2 22:11:02 ada kernel: [39377.284121] usb 4-2: device not accepting address 6, error -62 Oct 2 22:11:02 ada kernel: [39377.284144] hub 4-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 2 This happens for normal USB ports and also for the USB-3 ports. As the hub is a USB-2 device the mainport switches it to the USB-2 controller. I have also tried to use different cables with no improvement. I have filed this as a separate issue - Bug #642114. One common tip found in various forums is to try "modprobe -r ehci-hcd" to see if there is some issue with modules initialisation order. That can't be tested on SuSE-11.3 as ehci is compiled in.
