I see this behaviour on OpenSUSE 11.4, but it may be not limited to this version. When networkmanager is the default then all configuration information entered during installation should be written to the networkmanager configuration (too). (/etc/NetworkManager/system-connections) The wired LAN connection is/becomes the system default because WLAN is deactivated at installation time. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. install OpenSUSE on a system with wired and wireless LAN 2. keep networkmanager as the default to control the network connections 3. enter manually a static IP-address during installation for LAN Actual Results: The LAN connection is activated by networkmanager with DHCP.
