Screen Shot of udev failures
I have attached some screen shots which show one of the manifestations of this
problem early during the installation process. It does indeed appear to
involve the udev process. (It randomly appears to fail in two different ways.
It either locks up with a flashing screen or slogs along very slowly. If it
"slogs along" I can see the udev info as I have presented in the attached
file).
I thought I had tested the NOMODESET parameter already, but supplying this as a
command line option for the install process seems to help. I have been able to
complete an install using NOMODESET without also having to also supply the
ACPI=OFF parameter.
I believe I mentioned this in my original message, but we have tested the very
same laptop with both an NVIDIA 670M and an ATI 7970M. The problem is apparent
without regard to which video card is installed in the laptop.
Do the screen shots I have attached provide any additional assistance in
narrowing this down?
