https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=204252 Summary: Install fails with kernel panic after "freeing unused kernel memory" & note re. SMP Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Alpha 4 Platform: i586 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: osl@16hd.freeserve.co.uk QAContact: jsrain@novell.com CC: osl@16hd.freeserve.co.uk 10.2a4 cd1 & mini-iso (both checked with md5sum on file and verified by k3b burner) Very early in install, "Kernel panic - not syncing: attempted to kill init!" occurs just after "freeing unused kernel memory" message, which is followed by "SMP" alone on a line. Hardware isn't SMP... Tried default install, "safe settings" and using F4 to pre-select NFS & server - all crash in the same way. Hardware is AMD K6-2/500 with 512M RAM, ATI AGP video I can post a picture of the screen but obviously no log files etc. See also 203466 (not posted by me) though that is 10.2 alpha 3 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-bugs+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-bugs+help@opensuse.org
