We are making progress, but not there yet on the ATI driver:
00:10 alchemy~/linux/ati-compiz/811/8-11> ./ati-installer.sh 8-11 --buildpkg
SuSE/SUSE110-AMD64

+ install -m 755 libdri.so

+ popd

+ pushd /tmp/ati.bf8WjN/usr/src/kernel-modules/fglrx
/tmp/ati.bf8WjN/usr/src/kernel-modules/fglrx /usr/src/packages/BUILD
+ patch -p0 -s

** Note also on the sym link issue:
It looks like what happened is the last kernel update failed to update the
links in /usr/src to point to the latest kernel source and object directories
when the kernel was updated from 2.6.25.16-0.1 to 2.6.25.18-0.2. I've got a
post out on the list to a guy who was pulling his hair out trying to get madwif
working. If he also was bitten by the sym link mess, then this is what
prevented the post-install scripts in the madwifi rpms from being able to
compile the ath_pci.ko kernel module needed to make his wireless work.
** OK, now back to ATI, what should I try next???
