Well, let's see what he comes up with.
But as I understand, this patch (rusxmms) is just a hack, to solve shortcomings
of the mp3 format, and the chaos created by non-Unicode encodings and regards
only mp3s having only id3v1 tags. Offering taglib with serious bugs just for
these users does not seem to me right. I think the priority of openSuse should
be the whole community, that is to offer a taglib which works as it should
(i.e. not breaking m4a tagging, or encoding of extended Latin-1 mp3s.) We do
not know whether the patch works with other formats (e.g. APEv2 tags in ape,
wavpack files), or also creates havoc in them as well.
I could imagine to have a separate repository with the patched taglib offered
only for those who need it, but the default should be the mainstream taglib
until the rusxmms patch is well tested with every format and proves to be okay.
