I'v just been hit by this problem today and is a little confused about the
patch.
I tried to update 2 virtual machines today and both updates stalled with a rpm
in defunct state. (Described in detail here:

)
Before updating the 3.machine I thought that I would apply the patch by hand.
As far as I can see, the patch sends a signal to /usr/bin/vmtools-user - but
there is no such binary on my system. An no such process
# ps ax | grep vmtools
1867 ? Sl 1:52 /usr/bin/vmtoolsd
1874 ? Ss 0:00 startpar -f -- vmtoolsd
Am I right in assuming that the signal should go to /usr/bin/vmtoolsd ?
