Hallo, sorry for the delay, but is time for holidays....
By the way:
I found that in the system with lvm2 logical volumes, chkconfig boot.lvm
returns off.
On such a system, with a "lvm enabled" initrd (done with mkinitrd -f lvm2),
logical voumes are enabled.
If I issue a simple mkinitrd (without any option), the new initrd is done
without lvm enabling functions, and, after reboot the system complain about
lack of partitions.
Now I simply issued the command "chkconfig boot.lvm on", then reboot and
"magically" the logical volumes are found and mounted.
So the problem is that if you create later (after installation) a LVM2
partition, volume groups and logical volumes, you have also to enable the
"boot.lvm" service.
For usability this should be done almost automatically from my point of view as
user can forget this operation very easily.
If not done automatically (solution wich I normally prefer) a solution can be a
sort of central OpenSuse utility that can complain user about possible
misconfigurations like this, it should be an utility where user can acknowledge
misconfigurations that are needed by particolar power user configuration.
Thank you for your support
Diego
