https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=257087 Summary: When creating update source can we only download the installed language and not everything ? Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Update Problems AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jkotze@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com When you install openSuSE 10.2 and you create update sources as part of the registration, the installation takes a very long time to create these sources due to the fact that it downloads what seems to be the descriptions of all the packages in every single language that exists on the repository. During the first screen of the installation I choose the language, why can it not just download the single translation of the descriptions. In countries like South Africa where badnwidth is slow and expensive, this is really a big pain. It takes up to an hour for the installer to create the openSuSE update source. After that it downloads the patterns for all the architectures, surely I only need the patterns for the architecture I am currently using. Making these changes will really speed up the install and improve the user experience -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
