I'm having a hard time getting this across - in comments 17 and 19 and 21 I
said the same thing 3 different ways.
If evdev is used /at all/ my mice behave strangely.
I was able to fix the problem in two different ways:
1. revert to the xorg.conf as produced by openSUSE 11.0, which uses kbd instead
of evdev for the keyboard
2. upgrade to the version of X (1.6.0?) from that repo
I did not change my InputDevice sections which refer to the mice until I had
evdev working, which requires the newer Xorg.
IMO evdev in openSUSE 11.0 is till broken and using it *at all* breaks other
devices no matter how they are listed.
While googling for a solution to my own problem, I found that this might help
with evdev-related issues:
Add
Option "AutoAddDevices" "False"
in the ServerFlags section.
I have not changed my HAL config.
