With Skylake, the default for new installations is to *not* install the xf86-video-intel driver anymore, because it was too buggy when we made this decision.

If you have that installed, then I wonder why.
Because the installation is from August 2016? I installed the intel driver in the wake of this bug, and updateing doesn't de-install it....
I'm glad to hear that the modesetting DDX is working so well for you now. Let's call it FIXED for now, and if the problems come back, please do REOPEN (or create a new bug report if it's a different problem).
