All software updates have been applied. 2. I can not access CUPS with any username/passwd pair (root included). 3. HP Toolbox errs out with device not found (have tried USB/HP backend installs). 4. When I do get some sort of successful pseudo-install no app in the system will recognize it as the default printer. There is a "bogus" IPP printer by default when CUPS is installed and that always comes up as default with any print dialog no matter what "printer" I have specified as default. 4. In short, this entire scenario is a disaster or there is serious lack of communication on what we must do out here to get a HP printer installed correctly and working. 5. Johannes, I am a casual software developer and I NEED to be able to print. Not tomorrow, not next week, not next month - but NOW.
