OK, what I am talking about now is a new install of 12.1 beta_x86 DVD with KDE3
from factory, that I created last night (finally). This is a snippet of the
bottom of the "/etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu" file that resulted from that
install. It comes from 12.1-19.1 of desktop-data-openSUSE (the "extra" package
is the same version).
(snippet)
<Menu>
<Name>YaST</Name>
<Directory>suse-yast.directory</Directory>
<MergeFile>yast-settings.menu</MergeFile>
</Menu>
<Move>
<Old>YaST</Old><New>Settings/YaST</New>
</Move>
<Menu>
<Name>GNOME Settings</Name>
<Directory>suse-settings.directory</Directory>
<MergeFile>settings.menu</MergeFile>
<Directory>Hidden.directory</Directory>
</Menu>
<DefaultMergeDirs/>
<MergeFile>applications-kmenuedit.menu</MergeFile>
<MergeFile>custom.menu</MergeFile>
</Menu> (Note: This is the end of the file)
This version works, as I wrote earlier today. That is, a bog-standard install
produces full functionality in "Personal Settings" --- there's no blank left
panel.
In comparing this to the change info that Vincent supplied, it looks the same
to me. So I'm at a loss to determine what I should change or test. If someone
points me to a .rpm, I can do it, but if there is anything more complicated
than that, I'll need some help/instructions. Please advise.
