A default_verify_paths() method was added to the SSL module in Python 3 so you
can use that to get the system certificates there. Python 2.x is in maintenance
mode and they are only accepting patches that fix exploitable security issues
right now.
As much as I'd *like* to have a way to do it in Python 2.x, the desire to avoid
a fork that behaves differently than every other installation out there is much
higher.
Also, as it stands now, we don't have to patch each application using ssl out
there. We would have to if we did patch Python...
