Problem is solved for me! (But I am feeling rather stupid.)
Turns out that /etc/init.d/nfs was not run at boot time at all. Having made
Neil's suggested changes in /etc/init.d/nfs no file /tmp/mount.log was created.
So I did a quick
ls -l /etc/init.d/*/* | grep nfs
which did not return any results.
I have now activated NFS via YaST -> System -> System Services (Runlevel).
Now the above command gives me
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 Apr 7 09:27 /etc/init.d/rc3.d/K05nfs -> ../nfs
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 Apr 7 09:27 /etc/init.d/rc3.d/S05nfs -> ../nfs
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 Apr 7 09:27 /etc/init.d/rc5.d/K05nfs -> ../nfs
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 Apr 7 09:27 /etc/init.d/rc5.d/S05nfs -> ../nfs
And all is well after rebooting!
I could swear that in previous openSUSE installs I did not have to set this
service manually. Is this a change in policy?
Thanks,
Robert
