Running Yast revealed they were there, but I had to switch to old-style networking to connect. In SUSE Linux 10.1 I have the madwifi-0.9.1 drivers installed, and YAST detected the wireless card, allowing for a very easy configuration of the drive. It works without problems in SUSE 10.1. In openSUSE 10.2 alpha4, although I have installed wlan-kmp-default, YAST does not detect the wireless card. Doing lspci on openSUSE 10.2, it reports: 05:07.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. Some mirrors (all?) contain corrupt RPMs in the factory repository that are also included in the Alpha4 ISOs where they are not corrupt. The difference is only some single bit flips.
