By recognized, I mean that the card is seen by the system and designated as /dev/sdg1 (on my sys) but that the USB mounting to /media that used to take place does not happen anymore. This is a change from when 10.1 was first released. /dev/sdg1 *can* be mounted manually, thus the device is known to the system. This time the reason is compiz being used instead of metacity even if Xgl is not enabled. compiz then fails to run, the error message from compiz is: "No composite extension." compiz-cvs_060621-9 metacity-2.15.34-3 gnome-session-2.15.92-4 I'll attach ~/.xsession-errors.
