As I can not see that we support this in our kernel (and it has recently been proposed to use dm-crypt with LUKS as default cryptofs), I have no idea why we should still carry it in util-linux. The fix done in comment #14 only applies for the general case of solving. However, computing patch states is a special solver run (called 'establishing'). This run is applied to all kind of resolvables, not only patches, because patches might have dependencies to other resolvables. What happens here is that zmd runs the 'update-status' helper which does an 'establishing' run.
