Whey was it filed here? SLES9 is not available in my bugzilla drop down selections. Please refile to appropriate queue if needed. Description: We have been working with IBM on an issue with IBM's San Volume Controller solution with VMware. We identified a change that needs to be made to the mptscsi device driver that ships with the Novell SLES 9 SP3. We have made the change and all tests are running successfully at IBM. It has never happened while I am using it, only when I leave for a while, so it may be related to the screen saver kicking in. Why hangs the System? The Suse Linux 10.2 Beta sometimes could be installed without mistakes only by restart I must press several times "Enter". The next starts are fine. This has something to do with mtime changing within local copy of the inode on the cifs client, or something like that, related to that. I looked at the ethereal trace and there is no error over the wire during various transactions occuring during creation of the file such as NT_Create_AndX Request, SET_PATH_INFO Request, and QUERY_PATH_INFO Request. It runs just-installed gconftool-2 in its %post. But there is no guarantee, that zypp will install or update dependent libraries for gconftool-2 before gconf2 itself and it can cause random installation failures of %post. To fix this problem, one has to add "PreReq" (or "Requires(post)"). But it's not easy to colect them. Documentation speaks about %__find_prereq, but it is not to be implemented, however in seems to need only one line change. It would be nice to implement it (or the new style %%_find_requires_post). Its work-around is ugly and fragile: Explicitly listing of all needed libraries in PreReq. Technical note: The code coes not offer support for Requires(pretrans) and Requires(posttrans), so it cannot be used as expected. E.g. when trying to display www.opensuse.org in a browser (Konqueror, Firefox), the page would not completely load. Also other pages do not load completely. File downloads stop very quickly. It makes 10.2 un-usable for me. The problem does not occur on 10.1 installations. However, I have not found similar reports on the internet (except re ipv6, deactivation, did not help), therefore I am not sure whether it is a bug or configuration problem.
