To reproduce, - run your machine as normal (with working internet connection), make sure zen-updater shows available updates (orange icon) - shutdown the external internet connection (while the router is still available) Network setup: ,------, ,----------, | ,------------, | PC |-------------| Router |------ | ------| internet | '------' '----------' | '------------' (I can't test without the router in between.) - click the orange zen-updater icon - the dialog shows "getting update list" for a short time, then zen-updater crashes. If I start the session normaly I have no window-manager running and have to start compiz + gnome-window-decorator by hand. If I put both into the gnome-session (gnome-session-properties) then they block with ssh-askpass-x11. The panel gets loaded, ssh-askpass-widnow popsup and then the screen goes black :( Regarding the gnome-session. If you don't have the latest 10.1 packages, you should update from zmd/yast/yum/whatever. Putting it into ~/.config/autostart/ was just a desperate attempt. I found no way to change the start order in the gnome-session. And when I started it from the gnome-session it seems to block. You say its autostarted. From where?
