Perhaps this is the issue? Do as Takashi says, check if the firmware file exists (/usr/lib/firmware/facetimehd/firmware.bin). If the user chooses to open the PTP (camera) filesystem, Dolphin opens a new window which points to the default location instead of the camera filesystem on the connected device.
