So i downloaded "kernel-default-6.8~rc3-1.1.gae4495f.x86_64.rpm". This installation consistently failed. Only after remove package "zfs" (in Yast) i could install this kernel. (Cgo lets Go packages call C code, see https://go.dev/blog/cgo, 2011) The most commonly used option that triggers the external linker is -buildmode=pie, which we aspirationally use in most Go application packages behind conditionals for architectures where it is unsupported, currently only ppc64le. We first encountered this issue when trying to set the go metapackage from go1.21 to go1.22. Approximately 40+ Go application packages in Factory set CGO_ENABLED=0 and -buildmode=pie together. On arch i586, builds started to fail with error: -buildmode=pie requires external (cgo) linking, but cgo is not enabled This tracking bug will be referenced for SR submissions to Go application packages to adapt to the new requirements. Most of these submissions will to remove CGO_ENABLED=0 absent a requirement for its use by a specific package. Upstream comments from the above change: https://go.dev/issue/31544, CL 477839 When using an external (C) linker with cgo enabled, the `runtime/cgo` package is now supplied to the Go linker as an additional dependency to ensure that the Go runtime is compatible with any additional libraries added by the C linker. https://go.dev/issue/46330, CL 522239 go build commands that invoke the linker now error out if an external (C) linker will be used but cgo is not enabled. Now often when wine or proton applications initialize audio , e.g. when I startup EA App inside Steam at launch, or something like REAPER's windows version ( https://reaper.fm/ the trial is free and unrestricted) at any time I press "play", the following happens: 1. Audio drops out completely for a split second. 2. A visible notification is shown like my bluetooth device just freshly connected 3. Audio profile is degraded to something horrible, it sounds like the worst quality headset telephony codec. 4. Sometimes a second later it resets back to what bluetooth profile I had before, usually high-quality playback only "AAC". But sometimes it also just doesn't. This can be checked in plasma's audio device panel, where it will show the telephony codec "Headset Unit ... mSBC" profile in case it didn't reset properly. The former, kernel-firmware.rpm is still provided only for the legacy use cases (the old SLE), and kernel-firmware-all.rpm already has "Provides: kernel-firmware" as the better (much smaller) replacement. Now, we'd like to drop the old big kernel-firmware.rpm finally. But this needs fixing the dependencies in some package or images. As far as I see, the only package that has an explicit use of the uncompressed files is installation-images. This needs the changes to adapt kernel-firmwre-all and handling of compressed files.
