Who wants to "play" with sound settings should be able to configure it without YaST. It did make sense 10 years ago, but now it's usefulness is IMO not so big. It does not make sense to keep maintaining such a tool that says at the very beginning: This is for real hackers! But it shouldn't be seen as the fundamental component for the system set up. Also, another infamous problem with YaST sound module is that the disablement of the sound on YaST may not work reliably (e.g. PulseAudio or pipewire respawns the sound daemon and grabs the device again, when YaST is started on a running desktop; this results in the device busy error). So, in your opinion, should we better drop yast2-sound? Does it still have valid uses in this day and age? The user can change some low-level parameters there, too, and there is a sound test with a volume slider (that church organ sound). But are those things useful enough to keep it around?
