My "mistake" was to try to migrate duplicity to use OBS source services, which is a very useful thing to do in general. It doesn't work with duplicity though, as duplicity requires running "setup.py sdist" in order to substitute the version, and continue working with the modified sources. There are actually more subtleties involved. "setup.py sdist" creates the correct version string "0.8.20" for tag "rel.0.8.20", but for a development version, it would create something like "0.8.21.dev6", which wouldn't work as expected with rpm (for rpm, it should be "0.8.21~6"). Moreover, "setup.py sdist" would use the local time as release time stamp, which would break reproducible builds. However, that doesn't seem to be necessary because wicked can read the information directly from firmware. Running: wicked bootstrap eth0 does the network setup from firmware. I can establish the iscsi connection, mount sysroot and boot successfully then. So, Marius, maybe wicked could try per default setting up the nic from firmware if rd.iscsi.ibft=1 is specified? I will continue testing with my other iscsiroot setups (keeping needinfo). Bluetooth not work at all in any circumstance.
