BTW, does the right channel sound silent? In the past, most of problematic built-in mics were the inverted right channel. Then adding both left and right became almost silence. Also the switching to it (via Gnome sound controle center) transparently switches the profile and make the mic available (didn't work neither). The mic volume control doesn't seem to work. Start YaST users 2. Go to Defaults for New Users 3. Change Umask for Home to 077 4. [OK] This will add/change /etc/default/useradd:UMASK=077 5. Start YaST Users again 6. Create new user xyz 7. [OK] This creates the user xyz and their home drwx------ 6 xyz users 232 Mar 1 17:06 xyz So, from my POV, we probably have different expectations about the behavior.
